Graduate students who select the M.S. degree must complete six hours of research courses, as listed on each area of emphasis, before registering for any thesis hours. In addition, a thesis prospectus must be filed with the Department of C&I and the Graduate College the semester prior to registering for thesis hours. The form, THESIS PROSPECTUS, must be completed by the student, signed by the student's advisor, and returned to the C&I Department's Graduate Programs Office three (3) weeks prior to the last day of instruction of the semester. The minimum number of thesis credits is six. The thesis should demonstrate the student's ability to conduct original research through the selection of a specific problem or topic, the gathering of the pertinent and necessary data, the organizing of ideas, and the writing of a professional report in clear and effective English.
The thesis should be written in APA style. Students should obtain a copy of A Thesis and Dissertation Manual from the Graduate College and a copy of Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (4th edition) from the bookstore.
Students are advised to consult the Graduate Catalog and their advisor for additional information.
Students in the M.S. program will follow the established deadlines
for the thesis which are published in the UNLV Graduate Catalog.
