CarolAnne M. Kardash is a professor in educational psychology who joined the UNLV faculty in 2001. Prior to that, she was a faculty member at the University of Missouri-Columbia for 15 years. She earned a B.A. in English from Le Moyne College, a M.S. in Special Education from the College of St. Rose, and a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from Arizona State University. Her most recent research has focused on two areas. First, she has examined how people's beliefs and attitudes influence their processing of text, with a particular emphasis on people's memory for controversial information. She is now extending this line of research to examination of how individual differences affect people's skills at argumentation and persuasion. Second, in her role as evaluator for several NSF-funded grants dealing with science education reform efforts at the undergraduate level, she has investigated the role of undergraduate research internships on interns' research skills and career plans. Her work in these two areas has appeared in the Journal of Educational Psychology and Contemporary Educational Psychology. She has served as an Associate Editor of the Journal of Educational Psychology, and currently serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Educational Psychology, Contemporary Educational Psychology, Educational Psychology Review, and the Elementary School Journal.
