Dr. Gale M. Sinatra is a Professor in the Department of Educational Psychology at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and served as Interim Graduate Dean for UNLV from 2003-2006. She received her Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Massachusetts in 1989 where she specialized in reading and measurement from a cognitive perspective. Her research foci include assessment, reading acquisition, conceptual change learning, and biology learning. Her book, Intentional Conceptual Change, co-edited with Paul Pintrich, was published by LEA in 2003.
Dr. Sinatra has authored numerous publications in distinguished journals, including the Journal of Educational Psychology, Educational Psychologist, and Reading Research Quarterly. She is currently serving as editor of Educational Psychologist, the official journal of Division 15, Educational Psychology of the American Educational Research Association. Her recently funded National Science Foundation grant explores the challenges of teaching and learning about biological evolution.
Prior to joining the UNLV faculty, Dr. Sinatra was an Associate Professor in the Department of Educational Studies at the University of Utah and Director of Assessment for the University of Utah Reading Center.
