PEX 116A SCUBA DIVING (Beginning)

Prerequisite: Good health and the ability to pass the basic swim test: A 200-meter surface swim, a 15-meter underwater swim, and a 10-minute tread water exercise. Equipment required : Mask, snorkel, fins, boots. Equipment supplied : Air cylinders, buoyancy compensator, weight belt, wet suit, hood. Certification : An international card will be issued upon the successful completion of all classroom, pool, and lake training. Field trip : Students must attend two days of diving in open water at Lake Mead in order to be certified. 2 credits

PEX 116B SCUBA DIVING (Advanced)

Prerequisite: PEX 116A or a scuba certification - 2 credits
Equipment required : Mask, snorkel, fins, boots, gloves, dive log, dive tables, and underwater flashlight. Equipment supplied : Tanks, regulator, buoyancy compensator, weight belt, weights, and wet suit. Certification : An international advanced scuba diver card will be issued through NAUI upon completion of the class requirements. Field trip : (1) One trip to San Diego , California . Transportation and lodging is the student's responsibility, plus a $20 trip fee. (2) Two field trips to Lake Mead plus one bonus trip to Lake Mead . No extra charges for Lake Mead .

PEX 120A SWIMMING (Beginning)

Beginning students with no swimming skills will learn basic stroke techniques and water survival. Others will be able to learn additional basic swimming strokes and work on stroke improvement for strokes already known, or if you just want to work out for competition or better health, you will receive benefits from this course.

PEX 120B SWIMMING (Intermediate)

Prerequisite: PEX 120A

PEX 120E LIFEGUARD TRAINING

Prerequisite: (1) Must be able to swim 500 yards non-stop, demonstrate the freestyle, breast, and side strokes, (2) recover a 10-pound object from the bottom of the pool, and (3) tread water for two minutes using legs only. This class is designed to give students the skills necessary for swimming pool lifeguard jobs. Students will learn advanced CPR and basic first aid skills as well as life saving techniques.

PEX 127 WATER AEROBICS

Focuses on improving cardiovascular endurance, muscle tone, and flexibility by doing a series of exercises in the water
