Gerald E. (Jerry) Landwer
Dr. Gerald E. (Jerry) Landwer is President of the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (AAHPERD) and Professor in the Department of Sports Education Leadership. He has been a visible national leader in professional organizations in the physical education professions for more than 40 years and has received numerous awards throughout his career including the AAHPERD Honor Award, the Southwest District AAHPERD Honor Award. In 2001 he was named a Fellow in the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance.
Dr. Landwer provides important program leadership in the biophysical foundations of effective physical education, athletics administration, and coaching education. His areas of interest are physical activity for health and fitness, body composition, and the assessment of human performance. Research and development interests focus on ergogenic aids, body composition, and aerobic/anaerobic training. Before joining the UNLV faculty in 1988, he served as Department Chair at three major universities.
