    • October 1 for Spring Applications
    • February 1 for Summer Applications
    • February 1 for Fall Applications

Deadlines are subject to change, please contact the Office of the Registrar and Admissions (702-895-3443) for the most accurate information.

Section 4 of the UNLV application requires choice of major. If you indicate an Education major here (i.e., Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Human Services Counseling, Physical Education, Secondary Education, Special Education, or Workforce Education), the UNLV Admissions Office will forward your file to the COE Advising Center. Full admission to the College of Education requires a minimum 2.75 GPA. If you are a transfer student with less than a 2.75 GPA, you will be admitted to the University College , instead of the College of Education.

If you initially indicated a different major on your application and have now decided on a major in the College of Education (you must complete an Academic Program Change Form at the Advising Center (CEB 226). You must meet the minimum 2.75 UNLV GPA requirement to change your major to Education).

You should obtain a UNLV Undergraduate Catalog. If you attend orientation, you will receive a catalog at that time. Otherwise, it can be purchased in the UNLV Bookstore. It is also located on the Undergraduate Catalog web page. All students are responsible for information in the Undergraduate Catalog, including degree requirements, policies, and procedures.

  1. Once admitted to UNLV as an Education major, you will automatically receive a welcome letter from the College of Education Undergraduate Advising Center. This letter will instruct you to immediately make an appointment with an academic advisor. You will not be able to register for courses until you meet with an advisor. You may discuss your course planning with an advisor in person or over the phone (call 702-895-1537 to schedule an appointment), or through our online system (visit our website at http://education.unlv.edu/Advising and click on "Online Advising").
  2. As your advisor will discuss with you, all new students are strongly encouraged to attend "New Student Orientation." Click here for more information: http://orientation.unlv.edu/.

It is highly recommended that you meet with an advisor in the College of Education Undergraduate Advising Center each semester to plan a schedule and obtain current information on course requirements, deadlines, etc. Call 702-895-1537 for an appointment.

Attending as a non-admitted student
An individual who is at least 18 years of age OR who has graduated from high school has the option of attending UNLV as a non-admitted student. A non-admitted student is a student who has not been officially admitted to UNLV. Non-admitted students may take a maximum of 8 credits per semester. A maximum of 24 credits earned as a non-admitted student may be applied towards a Bachelor's degree.

Typical reasons students attend UNLV as non-admitted students include:

  1. Not meeting the UNLV admissions requirements
  2. Missing the application deadline
  3. Not interested in earning a degree (e.g., students attending UNLV to take various courses for state endorsement requirements).

Register as a non-admitted student.
