College faculty receive Research Infrastructure Award
John Filler John Filler (PI)  Catherine Lyons (Co-PI) & Greg Levitt (Co-PI) received a President's Research Infrastructure Grant for their proposal,  "Digital Audio/Visual Remote recording of Complex Social Interactions Among Teachers and Children with and Without Disabilities."  The proposal was funded for $99,000.

The proposal is for digital equipment that will enable researchers from various disciplines across campus to record and store, with reliability and fidelity, the complex interactions that occur between preschool age children with and without disabilities in a natural classroom setting. It will enable our UNLV researchers to capture digitized audio and visual records of complex micro-molecular strands of both verbal and non-verbal forms of the behavior of adults and young children. Doing so will allow us to isolate the variables that may ultimately be shown to account for reoccurring patterns and eventually lead to the identification of functional relationships among behaviors.  The Lynn Bennett Early Childhood Center will be setting for the research.
