Biographical Description: Dr. Strawser is an Associate Professor in the Department of Educational and clinical Studies. Prior to joining the faculty in 1991, she was a teacher in general and special education, a school psychologist, and adjunct faculty member in higher education. She has expertise in development of programs in teacher education, assessment design, research with persons with disabilities who are homeless, medical aspects of disability, obtaining and directing federal and state grants, and coordination for the UNLV/CCSD Professional Development Schools Partnership. Dr. Strawser has held elected offices in state and national professional organizations, disseminated her research through publications and international conference presentations, and serves as an Associate Editor for School-University Partnerships: The Journal of the National Association for Professional Development Schools. She is currently collaborating with department faculty and Professional Development School personnel in an investigation of effective assessment of instruction by teachers of ELL students and the process to determine professional development needs.
