PK-12 Education Leadership

Two distinct levels of degrees are available in Educational Leadership: a master (M.Ed.) and a doctorate (Ed.D.). The degree programs are designed to allow candidates to pursue educational leadership careers in elementary, middle level, and secondary school settings, as well as in central office administration.

Workforce Education & Development

The Workforce Education & Development Program at UNLV is dedicated to preparing highly competent professionals for the following careers:

  • Career and Technical teachers in public/private schools (pre-service and in-service);
  • Training/HRD/Workplace Learning and Performance professionals;
  • Community college and postsecondary faculty;
  • Workforce Education program administrators and leaders;
  • Instrucitonal and curriculum designers;
  • Employment, job placement, and career transition service professionals; and,
  • Other positions in education and workforce development.

Higher Education Leadership

Welcome to the Higher Education Leadership programs at the University of Nevada , Las Vegas (UNLV). The department offers Master's and doctoral programs. Our programs are uniquely situated in the growing and vibrant city of Las Vegas . Las Vegas is home to UNLV, a state college, a community college, and the nation's fifth largest school district-all of which provides a dynamic environment for higher education students seeking research, internships, and full-time opportunities. The city's growing economy and changing demographics present a laboratory for research and practice for those interested in any number of higher-education related issues.

The primary mission of the Department of Educational Leadership is the development of individuals for leadership roles at all levels of education and related business/industry enterprises. Its scope includes PK-12 Education Leadership, Higher Education Leadership, and Workforce Education and Development. Our Department offers several programs, many of which involve theoretical constructs and practitioner training for those interested in careers as public or private educational leaders, policy analysis, and teachers in business and industry occupations that require educational and leadership skills or degrees focusing on educational research.
