General Clark County School Placements (CCSD)

All field experience student placements in CCSD are made by district personnel. Specifically, the CCSD Office of Teacher Training and Staff Development under the direction of Ms. Karyn Wright is responsible for all field experience placements. Students may NOT negotiate with schools and/or teachers. To do so might jeopardize placement.

Students from Universities other than UNLV desiring placement should contact Ms. Wright.

All Student Teachers:

Student Teachers are generally placed by zip code. Student Teachers find out placements at orientation.
In some cases, the school you are placed at may contact you regarding your placement prior to orientation. Please realize this is not a guarantee of placement, nor should the student expect the cooperating school to notify them prior to orientation.

All Practicum/Pre-Student Teaching Students:

Practicum/Pre-Student Teaching students are assigned by the CCSD based on the selection of Time/Area made on application. Practicum students find out their placements at orientation, and not prior.

Out-of-Area Placements

Placement of field experience students in schools other than CCSD schools can be arranged.
In order to be considered for student teaching out-of-area (outside CCSD) the student must:

Submit a letter of request to the Coordinator of Field Experiences.
Secure permission from University or school district personnel who will provide school assignment and/or supervise the student teaching experience.
Facilitate a letter written to the Coordinator of Field Experiences from the university and/or school district personnel acknowledging their agreement to place student teacher in an appropriate school placement and provide supervision/evaluation.
Pay the stipend to the cooperating teacher.
Pay the stipend to the supervisor.
Provide the cooperating teacher a copy of UNLV student teaching handbook.
Provide the cooperating teacher and supervisor with UNLV evaluation forms.
Provide the Coordinator of Field Experiences the names/addresses/other contact information of the cooperating teacher, principal, and supervisor.
As applicable, contact the UNLV Disability Resource Center to coordinate accommodations for a documented disability.
