Distinguished Faculty and Nationally Accredited Programs

Why UNLV? The faculty and programs in the College of Education are among the best in the country:

• In the 2008 U.S. News & World Report rankings of America's Best Graduate Schools, the Educational Psychology department was ranked in the top 20 among specialty programs.
• The College of Education faculty receive the highest honors from professional organizations and are elected as top officers of learned societies.
• The College of Education at UNLV is the only Nationally accredited teacher preparation program in Southern Nevada. Our Teacher Education Program is fully accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education.
• The Teacher Education Program in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction offers the coursework and programs to make each UNLV licensure candidate "Highly Qualified" as required by the Federal No Child Left Behind Legislation.
• There are eleven national academic journals housed in the College of Education.
• The Counselor Education Program offers two clinical programs, in professional school counseling and advanced mental health counseling, both accredited by the Council on Accreditation for Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). The addictions program earned the 2009 national program of excellence award from the International Addictions and Offenders Counseling Association.
