Cardiovascular Fitness Courses at UNLV

PEX 111 JOGGING

This aerobic course is designed to expose students to the physical fitness activity of jogging. It is not intended to be a marathon training course, but rather a course to encourage students to take part in a physical fitness program. Focuses on improving cardiovascular fitness and wellness through jogging programs are emphasized

PEX 120A SWIMMING (Beginning)

Beginning students with no swimming skills will learn basic stroke techniques and water survival. Others will be able to learn additional basic swimming strokes and work on stroke improvement for strokes already known, or if you just want to work out for competition or better health, you will receive benefits from this course

PEX 120B SWIMMING (Intermediate)

Prerequisite: PEX 120A

PEX 127 WATER AEROBICS

Focuses on improving cardiovascular endurance, muscle tone, and flexibility by doing a series of exercises in the water.

PEX 128 LOW BACK CARE THROUGH GENTLE YOGA

This class incorporates gentle yoga for the health of the lower back, body mechanics as they apply to daily living habits: posture, proper breathing, relaxation techniques, and stretching.

PEX 130 STEP AEROBICS

This course introduces the fundamentals of step aerobics. Emphasis is placed on basic stepping up and down on an adjustable platform; cardiovascular fitness; and upper body, floor, and abdominal exercises. Upon completion, students should be able to participate in basic step aerobics.

PEX 136X TAE BO

Discover America 's favorite cardiovascular activity. Tae bo is a unique blend of Tae Kwon Do, aerobics, boxing, and music. Provides fun, cardiovascular, and general conditioning work.

PEX 165 AEROBIC CONDITIONING

Designed to help students develop a healthy cardiovascular system and general wellness. A variety of methods such as walking, jogging, running, cycling etc. are used. Flexibility and strengthening programs are also include

PEX 195-3 Women's Kick Boxing

This class is designed to help women develop self confidence, improvement of their upper body strength, and toning their buttocks, thighs and abdominals. This is achieved through impact training, target striking, and total body conditioning

PEX 195-6 Latin Dancing

This class introduces the student to Latin dances, Salsa, Cha Cha, and Merengue. The class will raise the students awarness of social dance forms as important and stimulating outlets for personaland cultural expressions.
