Welcome to the Department of Counselor Education at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. We offer graduate programs in several counseling specialties including clinical mental health counseling, professional school counseling, addictions counseling and prevention. We also offer undergraduate degrees with majors in human services, and minors in alcohol and gambling counseling.
Our graduate programs are accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) and prepare students for professional counseling practice in a variety of mental health, human service and educational settings. Department faculty members maintain diverse research and practice interests and represent a variety of counseling theories and models.
Students enrolled in our graduate programs can expect to be prepared to work with clients and students in a variety of environments. Students learn to apply current research, integrate theory and employ educational gleanings using a multitude of interventions. Graduate students will work with individuals in settings that include mental health and community agencies, public and private schools, colleges, legal and justice systems and addiction prevention and a variety of related settings. Indeed this is an exciting adventure.
