Scholarship Information

The 2013-2014 College of Education Scholarships have been awarded! Thirty-three students were awarded scholarships for a total of $35,600.
Ann and Matt Horvath Memorial Scholarship: for undergraduate elementary education majors enrolled in 12 or more credit hours; must maintain a 2.75 GPA; must be a Nevada resident at time of scholarship awarding.
Barbara L. Lochridge Memorial Scholarship: for juniors or seniors in an undergraduate elementary education program enrolled in 12 or more credit hours; must maintain 3.0 GPA; must demonstrate financial need based on the results of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Catherine Vaglio Scholarship: for full- or part-time undergraduate or graduate students majoring in Education; must maintain a minimum 2.75 cumulative GPA; must be a Nevada resident; must demonstrate financial need based on the results of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Chester D. Simms Scholarship: for undergraduate special education majors enrolled in 12 or more credit hours; must maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA; must demonstrate financial need based on the results of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Dr. Christopher and Wendy Kelly Scholarship in Education: for full or part-time Nevada residents pursuing a degree or program leading to teacher licensure; student must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.
Edward Pierson Scholarship: for undergraduate or graduate education majors with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
Eva Bortman Scholarship: for undergraduate elementary education majors enrolled in 12 or more credit hours; must maintain a 3.0 GPA; must be a Nevada resident at time of awarding.
Evelyn Semling Endowment: for sophomores, juniors and seniors majoring in elementary education; must be enrolled in 12 or more credit hours; must maintain a 2.75 GPA.
Foundation for Recovery Scholarship: for excellence in addictions studies for undergraduate or graduate students. Undergraduate students must be a junior or senior with a declared minor in Addiction Treatment, Addiction Prevention, or Problem Gambling Counseling; must be enrolled in 12 or more credit hours; must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA. Graduate students must pursue master's degree in Clinical Mental Health with an emphasis in Addictions, or an Advanced Certificate in Addictions Studies; must be enrolled in 6 or more credit hours; must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA.
John M. Vergiels Scholarship: for full or part-time graduate students with a major in Education; must maintain a minimum 3.5 GPA; preference given to Nevada or Ohio residents and to past recipients of the John M. Vergiels Scholarship. Recipients may reapply for this scholarship in subsequent years provided they maintain the requirements.
Silver State Schools Student Teaching Scholarship: for undergraduate education majors or graduate students seeking initial teaching license in the College of Education; must be a Nevada resident; must be enrolled in student teaching for Fall 2012 or Spring 2013; must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA.
