Congratulations to Dr. Monica Lounsbery
The Get Healthy Hero Award was presented to Dr. Monica Lounsbery on April 17th by the Southern Nevada Health District in recognition of her contributions to various projects undertaken by the Chronic Disease and Injury Prevention programs. Specifically, Dr. Lounsbery serves as a community expert consultant for the Get Healthy Clark County Community Challenge and is co-author of an edited guide book for K-12 school wellness programming. The guide book will be disseminated to all Nevada K-12 schools in the fall of 2008. Dr. Lounsbery will also chair an ad hoc committee of community health and school personnel to design and implement school wellness coordinator training of which, will be conducted statewide.
Dr. Jerry Hughes will be inducted into the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association Hall of Fame for his contributions to high school athletics in the state of Nevada
The UNLV College of Education would like to congratulate Dr. Jerry Hughes an Associate Faculty in Residence in the Department of Sports Education Leadership. In February Jerry will be inducted into the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association Hall of Fame for his outstanding contributions to high school athletics in the state of Nevada. Jerry also just recently received a citation for outstanding leadership from the National Federation of State High School Associations.
